Ice-breaking service

FESCO is the largest operator of icebreakers in the Far East of Russia. The government of the Russian Federation transferred four ice-breakers to the company: the diesel engine motorships "Admiral Makarov""Krasin" and "Kapitan Khlebnikov", and the diesel icebreaker "Magadan". They provide icebreaker assistance in the Arctic and freezing seas of the far-Eastern sea basin. However, the ice breakers´ deployment is not limited to these sectors of the world´s oceans; it covers the areas from the Eastern Arctic regions up to the coast of Antarctica.

Icebreakers "Krasin", "Admiral Makarov" and "Kapitan Khlebnikov" are considered to be in the liner class and can be used for work in ice conditions of any complexity.

Icebreaker "Magadan" provides assistance to the ports of the frozen, non-Arctic seas, performing auxiliary icebreaking work in the Arctic regions during the summer period, and salvage operations in ice conditions.

In the winter time, the fleet serves transport vessels in the Sea of Okhotsk, the Sea of Bering, the Sea of Japan and in the Gulf of Anadyr.
