"The first consignment of refrigerated cargo will be sent from Iran this week," LLC FECO Integrated Transport executive director Sergei Mukhin told Interfax.
"The first vessel with imported cargo left Iran's Anzali Port (Bandar-e Anzali) on November 12 to arrive at the Port of Olya in Astrakhan on November 17. The containers will then be hauled by FESCO's trucks to Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod. The total time in transit will amount to eight days and distance covered will be 2,520 kilometers. The test consignment consisted of ten 40-foot refrigerated containers with fruits and vegetables," the company said in a statement.
In March FESCO announced the launch of intermodal cargo transport services between Russia and Iran. The FESCO Russia Iran Service (FRIS) is focused primarily on shipments from Russia of ferrous metals, lumber, machine building products, and from Iran, food goods, construction materials and petrochemical products.
